PALESTINE - ISRAEL - JORDAN - SINAI

Off the beaten track tours • Visit sites • Meet locals • Discuss Human Rights & Politics

We joined on Tuesday, March 3rd of 2026 with Nazeem Al-Suleiman for a dispatch from Deir Istiya in the occupied northern West Bank, where occupation forces were attempting to bifurcate the region by constructing a corridor of settlement outposts along Route 505 as part of a broader strategy of violent control.

Deir Istiya is located directly beside Route 505 and is facing escalating attacks as settlers seek to dominate the region. In November settlers conducted an arson attack on the Hajjah Hamida Mosque and vandalized buildings in the village. We spoke with Nazeem Al-Suleimen, a lifelong community advocate and former mayor of Deir Istiya, to learn more about conditions in the village, recent military closures, and the efforts of community members to counter settler violence as Ramadan continued.

This recording of the webinar is free and open to the public, but you can contribute to the Green Olive Collective at this link to sustain our work to challenge the violence of occupation and advocate for a democratic future: https://sowingsolidarity.com
