PALESTINE - ISRAEL - JORDAN - SINAI

Off the beaten track tours • Visit sites • Meet locals • Discuss Human Rights & Politics

An important and often overlooked aspect of the Occupation is that it is highly marketable. Countries around the world line up to buy ‘battle tested’ Israeli weapons, surveillance tools, population control methods and military training techniques.

In this interactive, online webinar we are joined by activist and researcher Yonathan Hempel, an expert on Israeli militarism and the security industry who will help us understand the importance and worldwide impact of the Israeli arms industry. Per head of capita, no country on Earth exports more weapons than Israel and despite being a small country, is ranked 8th overall. Yonathan helped create the Database of Israeli Military and Security Export.

Israeli weapons were used extensively by Azerbaijan in the recent Nagorno-Karabakh War, by Myanmar in its genocide against the Rohinga people, and along the increasingly fortified US-Mexico border. We will join a virtual trip around the world to explore how Israeli arms and security equipment are involved in human rights violations. We will analyze how Israel continues to export arms around the globe while making a profit at the expense of Palestinians and disenfranchised communities.

Many in the security field consider Israel to be the Eastern-most frontier protecting Europe from Islamism. If you come from North America or Europe, you may be surprised to know that there’s every chance your own local police force has received Israeli training.

Others have celebrated the normalisation deals Israel has recently signed with the Emirates and Bahrain as ‘peace deals’, but it would be more accurate to call these are arms deals, designed to ensure a strong united front between Israel and the Gulf Countries, against Iran. All this and more will be discussed during the webinar.

Like all our online events there will be time for audience questions, and registration for the event is free – but you are encouraged to contribute whatever you felt it was worth at the end.
