On Sunday, June 21st of 2026 we joined for a critical conversation with Dr. Abdel Rahman Tamimi, a leading expert on water rights and resource management in Palestine, to examine how water policy in the West Bank functions as a tool of control and territorial annexation.
We explored how access to water and its denial have been used to entrench apartheid between Palestinian communities and settlements. We discussed the legal and administrative frameworks governing water allocation, the disparities in infrastructure and access between Palestinian and settler communities, and how water restrictions intersect with broader policies of land confiscation, displacement, and demographic change.
Drawing on decades of research and on-the-ground work, Dr. Tamimi situated water policy within the wider context of occupation, examining how control over this essential resource shapes daily life, agricultural sustainability, and the long-term viability of Palestinian communities in Area C and throughout the region. He is the General Director of the Palestinian Hydrology Group, a leading body in the Palestinian water and environmental sectors, delivering innovative and climate-adaptive solutions to thousands of households while advocating for equitable water access and environmental health for all Palestinians.
